In this age we are, we misuse the purpose of social media. Social media can bring a lot of benefits but also brings a lot of Drawbacks.

CHARACTERISTICS OF SOCIAL MEDIA.
1. INTERACTIVITY.
Social media helps us interact with people. Anyone can launch a sophisticated site accessible to all other users.
2. SOCIAL PRESENCE.
Social media integrate social presence because it is creating a new culture. For instance, social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube have heavy social presence and have created a new social-political revolution.
3. AUTONOMY.
Social media is a medium of communication that has a degree to which users feel free in control of content or feel free to say their minds. Social media is a communication tool for the advancement of Democracy.
4. ENTERTAINMENT
Social media serves as a medium of entertainment. In fact, with the media convergence, entertainment has become a big business. Social Media provides all forms of virtual entertainment than other media.
Social media is a great platform, It is a superb medium of communication.

The usage of social media boils down to its users. Time is too expensive to be wasted because you can’t turn back the hands of time. 95% of our time is spent on the media, how much do we earn per time spent or how many products have you successfully marketed. How are you saving for your future? Are you a potential millionaire, whose time spent on the media is to make money or broaden your knowledge.

In my discovery, one main cause of depression and procrastination is the media- social medium. The social media helps us reach heterogeneous audience, the content we pass out is in question?

Social Networking Addiction refers to people with a compulsive use of social media. They NEED to be on it, to see what is happening, to post etc at the point that it becomes harmful to them.
Social media addiction is a proposed form of psychological or behavioural dependence on social media platforms, similar to gaining disorder.
Social media has so worked on our thinking that we feel even our private life should be on the media that is to say your growing life is made public, no privacy as the word Implies.

If you lack self-control, you can spend a whole day socializing on the media. You tend to grow the habit of procrastinating. Social media brings about depression, addiction, self-doubt and unhappiness.
Social Media makes people crave for a sense of belonging. Be you and truly unique. Trying to copy a high standard lifestyle can almost immediately, land you in lifetime Depression.

SOME WAYS TO REDUCE YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA ADDICTIONS.
It’s not easy to break the addiction but you can start now and try to make yourself more useful offline.
1. Think of the benefits.
What do you earn, how big is your payment? Is it Important? I hear some people say “ I can’t imagine what becomes of my life offline. If it pays, Why not keep up with it, if it doesn’t don’t quit it. Limit it.

2. LIMIT YOURSELF
Sketch a time frame, you shouldn’t be spending more time in the social networking platform, there are other productive things you can do using social media. Set an alarm and don’t be tempted to exceed that time or prolong the time frame.

3. GET A NEW HOBBY.
Find a fun thing to do offline that makes you stand out, something that makes you unique. Find a new passion, find something more interesting and productive to invest your time in.

4. SPEND MORE TIME WITH YOUR LOVED ONES, MEET PEOPLE.
Instead of keeping up to date with your friends and family member through a screen, spend more time with them in the real world and reconnect with them. Make new memories and keep them personal to you- you don’t necessarily need to document everything you do in life with selfies.

5. GO COLD TURKEY.
GO offline for some time, if you’re spending more time with people on social media than you do in real life. Decide how long it would be, inform your friends and tell them how to reach you if they need your attention.

Try to find YOU offline. What do you have to offer, what is your value on the people you interact with? The social class we belong to determines and influences our kind of media exposure.
